Teresa Gabelman created such a story with this series. You only see the relationships grow and get deeper between the characters with every book. As a reader she did what is hard to do and connected you to each character, because you feel every emotion and hang on every word. Loved the ride she took us on in this book and feel she is far from over. She brings in New characters but you learn a lot about those who you fell for in the beginning so she took it to another level. I cannot wait for the next book and to see what happens to all the VC Warriors which to me includes Adam, Jill, Steve but also their loved ones. But I am patiently waiting slash losing my mind awaiting to see Jill and Slade stop tip toeing. All in all this author is amazing!!!

3 1/2 stars. First of all, I thought the story was good. What I did not think, was that it was Adam's story so much as a continuation of all the characters. (I don't mind the "continuation" aspect. I just don't feel it should have been marketed as Adam's story when I feel other characters like Jill got almost equal time.). It was very entertaining, but I didn't feel you even got a taste of Adam's and Angel's story until well into the second half, and there really wasn't much too it. I enjoy this series--I have read and loved all the books. For me, it was an exciting addition to the series as a whole. It is definitely not for someone to jump into if they have not read he other previous stories-- there is really no backstory to explain what is going on. I thought it was well written, and very emotional in parts, but really not much of a romance. I am looking forward to the next book.
The series is unique to paranormal romance with some of the same principles; Warrior Vampires fighting evil to save the world as we know it. Trying to live among the human race, save it from itself without being too involved. Vampires that are created from humans are known as "half-breed's" and have a "lesser than" placement in both the vampire and human race, which is a new concept to deal with in the series.
Adam's story is a continuing theme throughout the series, so it is with that this reader encourages you to read the series in order to get the full story of each of the characters. If you read just one, out of order as I did the first time, you are left wanting to know more of the story of the characters. Teresa Gableman may take one of the warriors as a theme for each new novel, but their is such an abundance of involvement in each of the novels, it is more of the continuing story of the whole group of warriors and their female companions. There is twin sisters that communicate with the deceased, a healer, a fellow warrior in training, etc. The woman are strong, independent and willing to fight for all they deserve and love. This is the reason I am giving this series a high vote, the strong character development in each of the novels in the series.
They really do need to get the upper hand on the Evil that is Alice though.
Since I first discovered this series, I have become dependent on it like blood to a Vampire, a full moon to Werewolves, water to grass, and well you get my point. I LOVE this series and have reread each book at least twice. Each book gets better and better because the stories keep developing and getting more intriguing and complicated like all great series should. This author is amazing and where her mind takes us into this world is amazing. Its hard for me to pick one VC Warrior as a favorite because, really, they each have their own special qualities and each one can hold their own with one another; Damon-silent but will rip the head off anyone who dare harms his girl; Jared (my favorite)-sexy, outgoing, funny but will do anything for Tessa damn the consequences; Duncan-quiet hero, who takes his job seriously, but would give it all up for his son and Pam in a heartbeat; Sid-sarcastic, great cook, loyal, loner, finally found someone to share his life with and who can keep him in his place; and then there is Adam who surprised me with his story, and I actually learned a lot about him and respected him more than I did previously. I cannot wait for SLADE. I think his story has been the most anticipated since he made his first appearance way back when. The tension with him and Jill just keeps building and I can't take it anymore, I want this book out now. With that said, I hope there will be a Sloan story, as well, and other characters introduced. Keep doing what you doing Teresa-you're only getting better.
Adam's story ended abruptly...like I got to the end and thought.."wait..this is it?". Maybe its because we've already watched Adam and Angelina's relationship grow through all the other books but still, I expected a little more than this. It was disappointing for me. So much of Adam's book was spent on building the angst between Jill and Slade, Sid and Lana's current relationship, and the new connection between Sloan and Caroline. I do enjoy catching up with old characters and being introduced to new characters but I also like to focus solely on the main character that the book is about. If we're going to reflect on old characters here and there then I'd like to see more on the first three vampires - Damon, Jared, and Duncan. They were my favorite..the originals who started this whole series. Still love the series and will definitely continue reading.
