"... When he finally pulled back, there was a predator's gleam in his eye. He looked so damned...satisfied. So very in charge, and she wanted to slap him and kiss him at the same time.**********
Kell and Reid are best friends, both with tragic, angsty pasts (I love angst!). They grew up in foster care, both ending up there for very different reasons, but both of them were in full on survival mode as teens. They became best friends fast and have been that to each other for years.
After a mission that went horribly wrong, a teammate was killed, Kell's friends were hurt badly, including Reid, and Kell blames himself. We learned the details of the mission in the previous book, but it's recalled here from Kell's perspective and he's still dealing with his own emotions about it and not doing so well. Reid's worried that he's losing his best friend and doesn't know what to do to help him anymore. And then they run into Teddie, or rather she literally runs into them, trying to escape the men she's convinced killed her family over a year ago.
Kell and Teddie both have pasts that have made them put up walls around everyone and everything in their present life. Teddie has no choice, having been in Witness Protection for the past year. She's had to give up everything she loved after losing her family. She took off on her own, not telling her handler, to try and get enough evidence against the men she suspects killed her father, step-mother and half-sisters. The meeting she sets up goes horribly wrong, but she escapes and runs into Kell and Reid, who are in the middle of their own mission. The trio circle around each other at first, not knowing if anyone can be trusted, but Teddie doesn't have much choice but to side with Kell and Reid and Kell finds himself not being able to let Teddie go off on her own with her life in danger.

"You're so beautiful," she whispered, looked at him with her eyes full of the compliment. No one had ever said that to him before - and holy Christ, she meant it.
He should tell her there was nothing beautiful about him, but he needed it to be true, didn't want her to see him as a danger...didn't want her to see the ugliness he'd been born with on the inside.

There are 2 separate suspense story lines that end up intersecting at the end. We have Teddie dealing with the men from her past and Dylan (who we meet in Lie With Me) dealing with a psycho from his past who's causing havoc for Dylan and the rest of his friends. I was actually surprised at the amount of Dylan, Riley and even Vivi we got in this story. Add to that a solid supporting storyline for Reid and Grier (a US Marshall trying to track down Teddie) it didn't leave a lot of extra page time for the leading couple. It just felt like there was a little something missing between them. I really did like the scenes when they finally started opening up to each other about their pasts and letting their guard down. And Kell's just a hard guy; he's had a tough life, he puts a lot of blame on himself for things that are really out of his control, and in that sense he stayed true to his character throughout. Even when he lets Teddie in, he still has that edge, but Teddie gives him something else to hold on to, where before he only had Reid.
While I loved seeing Kell open up to Teddie, I wish he'd have done the same with Reid. Their best friend relationship was one of my favorite parts of the story, and it didn't feel like they had any kind of real conversation together. Maybe chalk it up to them being guys, and they really wouldn't talk to each other about that kind of stuff, but having both lived through hard times, something other than a fist fight, which they had and really went at each other, would have been nice to see between them.
I enjoyed Night Moves and reading about Kell and Teddie finding love together after years of struggling to just make it through each day. For me, the supporting characters, specifically Reid and Grier, overshadowed the leads a bit, but when you love characters in a book, any character, it's not a bad thing at all! I always look forward to Tyler's romantic suspense books and can't wait to see what she gives us next.

Night Moves A Shadow Force Novel Stephanie Tyler 9780440423058 Books Reviews
It was an easy read... I am a fan of Stephanie Tyler's work. I have read several other books by her and she always comes thru.
Kell Roberts has always lived his life on edge, as a kid in foster care, as a special operative in the military and now as a black operative and loner. While out on a mission with friend and soldier Reid to take out a major player in the Mexican drug cartel, a woman appears out of nowhere running for her life. He has no choice but to change their plans because he can't just turn his back on her. She tells him her name is Teddie and she's running from mercenaries but he knows there is more to her, that she's hiding something from them.
After surviving the massacre of her family and running away from the U.S. Marshals that are protecting her in the witness protection program, she takes off for Mexico determined to get revenge on the men who murdered her family. When something goes terribly wrong Teddie has no choice but to run for her life and that's when she runs right into the arms of her seriously sexy rescuer Kell. She knows he's dangerous but she can either trust him or take off on her own and Kell seems to be her best bet. If they can survive both her enemies and his enemies they may find that they're not so different and if they give it a chance they could make their lives together.
My Review
I can't say this enough.... I LOVE this series! Stephanie Tyler knows how to write sexy men and women as strong capable warriors and still give them a soft side. This book is by far my favorite in the series, I've been super excited to read Kell's story and man was it good. The action and suspense was terrific, the sex was super hot and these two, Kell and Teddie, were great characters. She always gives the perfect amount of background information without overloading the reader with it.
Kell was pretty wounded inside by his past and that made him able to put feelings aside to get the job done, yet when he met Teddie he was such a sweetheart. He pretty much dropped everything to help save her, which was a lot for him since he's didn't think he was capable of it. And Teddie, man I just wanted to give her a hug. I felt so bad for what she went through, but she stayed strong. She wasn't one of those weak female characters that has to run to a man to save her. She could take care of her self very well but thanks to Kell she didn't really have to.
Then there was the little side story about Reid and Grier, whom I'm going to be very upset if there isn't a book for them. Man oh man did they have some smokin' hot chemistry. Yum....I want Reid all to myself! ;) And I can't forget to mention the rest of the group making their own appearances. Dylan, Riley and Cam more so than the others though. Anyways, I won't spoil but it looks like those guys are finally getting their happy endings! *Sigh*
So, I give this book 5 Stars! I just couldn't give it anything less because it was such a fantastic book. I was on the edge of my seat nearly the entire time!!! Thank you Stephanie for this great series and please, PLEASE give Reid and Grier their own book. I'm begging, I just have to know what happens!!!

Right in keeping with Stephanie Tyler's exciting, and sexy stories.I bet all of us would secretly love to live the life if only for a little while. It's another page turner!
Action, romance, mystery, everything you want in an fascinating book! Keeps your attention til you stay up all night to find out what happens next. Now, what is the title of Reid's story???
Stephanie Tyler continues her Shadow Force series with a powerful story of friendship and love. Kell and Reid have shared a special bond since they were teenagers. This story emphasizes just how far they'll each go to protect and support the other. I also enjoyed the introduction of Teddie into the mix. She intrigued me and it was fun to watch as Kell took the plunge into his HEA. Of course, his best friend Reid was ever faithful in pushing Kell off the cliff!
This series has been one of my favorites from the first book. It continues to remain atop that list. Once again, I've closed another Shadow Force book with complete satisfaction. I'm anxiously awaiting Reid's next encounter with a certain U.S. Marshal, as well as catching up with the rest of the guys and gals.
Great
